BALLET CONCERTO is presenting a blockbuster summer season: the world premiere of Luis Montero's ballet MEDEA, George Balanchine's TCHAIKOVSKY PAS DE DEUX, Bruce Marks' STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART, and a new work by Christine Hay.
MEDEA is Ancient Greece's answer to Desperate Housewives. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Medea's helped Jason snag the golden fleece. She gave him the best years of her life, not to mention two kids. Now, she is being cast off for the other woman. All of her energy is poured into obsessively unleashing her revenge, and settling the score with her ex-husband. Why watch reruns of Desperate Housewives when you can see the real thing? Don't miss this riveting tour-de-force. Luis Montero recently coached and did the choreography for the gold medalist figure skating pair at the 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS! This promises to be another Montero volcanic masterpiece.
What could be more intoxicating than a warm summer breeze wafting through the trees and settling on two dancers weaving an enchanting tapestry of dance? The legendary George Balanchine's TCHAIKOVSKY PAS DE DEUX is ideal for an outdoor setting. Virtuoso dancers Michele Gifford and Grant Dettling will make up the dynamic partnership. Ballet Concerto is performing this strictly copyrighted work by special arrangement with the Balanchine Trust.
STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART will go straight to your heart. Bruce Marks masterfully explores the different aspects of love. The spectrum goes from tender first love to jaded lonely hearts. Marks is an internationally known artistic director. His resume would fill several pages-as a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director. This spring Mr. Marks set the choreography for a ballet in Tokyo. After he leaves Fort Worth, he will be chairing and adjudicating the INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION in Jackson, Mississippi.
