El Paso, Texas – The City of El Paso Department of Public Health announces the re-location of the Pershing Women, Infants and Children Center located at 3707 Pershing Drive. The new facility will serve the growing need for WIC services in our community. The current location serves over 3,000 clients and provides medical screenings, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and supplemental foods to pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women and their families.
The new location has over 5,000 square feet available for additional expansion opportunities that include transferring clients from the current WIC Dyer location due to its close proximity. It is very accessible via the North-South Freeway, and the bus route is just a few feet away from the building. Other amenities at this new location include the fact that the building has refrigerated air conditioning, new waiting area furniture, areas for children to play which will increase their physical activity and ability to make new friends. The building meets all disabled accessibility requirements with plenty of parking.
Another service to be provided at this location is a Lactation Consultant who will be available at least two days a week to meet the needs of the mother’s who choose to breastfeed their infants. Breast milk is considered to be the gold standard of infant feeding as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
